Tuguegarao City – In recognition of the importance of promoting reproductive health and responsible parenthood as well as family welfare in the workplace, in line with Republic Act No. 10354, also known as the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012 (RPRH Law), the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office No. 02 (DOLE-RO2) and the Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the DOLE RO2’s Conference Hall on August 17, 2022.

The signing is meant to improve the policy and program environment to ensure universal access to family welfare, family planning, and responsible parenthood services and information in the private sector, business establishments, and groups.

The partnership also incorporates DOLE’s Family Welfare Program (FWP), aimed at soliciting corporate support in promoting the quality of life of workers through the promotion of family planning and family welfare consciousness among employers and employees.

The FWP focuses on 10 dimensions, to include: (1) Reproductive Health and Responsible Parenthood, (2) Education/Gender Equality, (3) Spirituality or Values Formation, (4) Income Generation / Livelihood / Cooperative (5) Medical Health Care, (6) Nutrition (7) Environment, Protection, Hygiene and Sanitation, (8) Sports and Leisure, (9) Housing and (10) Transportation.

Today’s signing is in line with Executive Order No. 12 in 2017, mandating the identification of roles of various national government agencies for the intensified implementation of the RPRH Law to contribute to the achievement of zero unmet need for modern family planning. ###
